Narrative

Having doodled around with the phone characters for some time I found a narrative home for them in a story about one of my favourite subjects, obsolescence.
For those new to the term, Wikipedia says "Obsolescence is the state of being which occurs when an object, service or practice is no longer wanted even though it may still be in good working order."
Got it? Good.

So of course, the next step was to invent a love story between the phone characters and a disembodied hand.... obviously.

We all love our technology, but more than that we love to desire the next evolution in that technology; and there is no technology that currently embodies this more than the mobile phone industry.

Our lead character Smiley Face falls in love with Hand and a whirlwind romance ensues. This comes to an abrupt end as the hand goes running off with a new model (obsolescence, get it?! Geez, do I have to explain everything?). Smiley Face watches from the sidelines as the hand goes through a plethora of boyfriends like the whore she is (the hand represents mankind in general, so don't go calling me no sexist !). That is until Hand comes right up to date with the smart-phones of today, with their crap battery life and temperamental behaviour, she realises she should be with solid reliable guy, but will Smiley Face take her back? Watch the finished film to find out.

This narrative all has to fit into a self imposed 90 second time frame...sung to music by Smiley Face himself. Music and lyrics coming right up.
